The Story of Hangout Library

WHO WE ARE

My Hangout is a community library of books based in Bangalore. We do free home-deliveries in and around Bellandur (10 km radius)

We have a collection of over 14000 books for children, young adults, and adults covering all genres. We don’t keep workbooks.

You can browse through our entire collection online. We use the very powerful library.services software. You can choose the books you want, add them to your queue and ask for delivery – we’ll deliver it so you won’t have to deal with traffic. We deliver twice a week.

OUR MISSION

Everyone at Hangout Library believes in the importance of books in our lives and how they can shape and influence us. All of us wish to promote book reading habits across all age-groups and more importantly in the next-gen children. We want to be the reading face of the new generation.

COLLECTION

The collection of books at our library is something we are extremely proud of. The entire collection is handpicked with a lot of time and devotion going into picking the right books. While picking books, we do admit our bias towards children as they are the foundations of the future. That said it does not mean we have neglected others. The library has more than enough stock of fictions; popular books on Leadership & Management; Self Help; Investment; Personal Finance; Travel; Spirituality, Religion; Philosophy, Health, Parenting, and Cookery among others.

At last count, we have an authentic collection of more than 10000 books. And we are always on the prowl, adding books every month. We also store books in regional languages (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, and Kannada). We add all the popular, best-seller, and critically acclaimed books immediately on release. Besides, we also add books on demand in case they are not in our stock.

Store members also have access to more than 80 magazines on a regular basis

FOUNDER

Hangout library has been conceptualized by Aanchal Agrawal after seeing reduced interest in reading habits in children and lack of public libraries in India unlike some of the western countries.

Aanchal, a gold medalist from Banaras Hindu University, is a trained child analytic-psychotherapist. She has almost 19 years of experience in working with children and is extremely passionate about developmental and learning processes in children. In addition to Hangout Library, Aanchal also runs CL Learning (www.confidentliving.co.in) which focusses on developing learning skills in children.

She has a dedicated section on Parentree, which is one of the premier parenting websites in India (http://www.parentree.in/India/Ask-Aanchal). Besides this, she has also been associated with Vibgyor High, India International, RedBridge International, I Play I Learn, and Little Elly to conduct workshops. She also contributes articles on various publications.

Aanchal is a dedicated mother, both to her son and two canines.
